MECHA-UDE

Recently we have seen an abundance of anime, manga, and visual novel crowd funding campaigns popping up in the west. However, a great many of these are either title revivals (Escaflowne, Skip Beat), or western publications of older Japanese media (manga, visual novels). With all the internet lawyers out there clamoring that the previous examples “aren’t how crowd funding was meant to be used” it should come as a breath of fresh air to hear that there is a brand new Japanese property up for funding. What is this mystery gift from Japan?

MECHA-UDE

Mecha-Ude is the work of animator Okamoto and her production team members. Together they have put together the above video, and your (potential) funding will help them bring on more talent to the project. Best of all, this project is already funded! Right now they are in the process of unlocking their stretch goals, so you still have time to get in on the ground floor of this anime! The story for the anime is as follows (warning it’s poorly written, pretty sure they used some kind of translation software for this):

Hero was a high schooler living an ordinary life.

One day, he meets a very strong and intelligent mechanical arm named “Mecha-ude”. After a strange turn of events, the “Mecha-ude” started living inside Hero’s hoodie and the two’s life full of trouble begins.

As the boy and his “Mecha-ude” fights together and strengthen their bonds, the two also meets new friends who also fights along with each of their own unique “Mecha-ude” partners.

Out of those, one of the heroine has two “Mecha-ude” which appears out of her skirt. An active girl with a totally opposite characteristics from hero himself, he gradually becomes attracted to her.

But the two are confronted with other “Mecha-ude” users who are in search of the secret of “Mecha-ude” relentlessly.

There’s a little over a week left in this KickStarter as of today (28 Oct 16), so back it while there’s still time! If you’re feeling generous with your time as well, why not let us know what you think of the rise in Japanese crowdfunding by leaving us a comment here or on our various social media channels. Cheers!
